Anthony Scalz Obituary Death -We regret to notify you of the passing of Mr. Anthony Scalzi, a former math instructor at Mercy. On Monday, July 24, early in the morning, Tony went to be with the Lord. He was a loving husband to Patricia Mullan Scalzi 69 father to Emily Scalzi Sziede 98 and brother-in-law to Mary Jo Mullan 71. Kate Scalzi is currently Mercy’s assistant athletic director.
He married Patricia Mullan Scalzi in 1969. His daughters are current Mercy Assistant Athletic Director Kate Scalzi and Emily Scalzi Sziede 98 Mr. Scalzi took his retirement in June 2012, having skillfully instructed the great majority of the mathematics courses offered throughout his 33 years of dedicated devotion to Mercy. He made such a huge contribution to the Mercy community and had a good influence on hundreds of kids across the entire school.
For many years, Tony served on the Mercy Advisory Committee, where he collaborated with the leadership to develop methods to enhance the working conditions for all staff members. He continued to be a fantastic Marlin supporter after retiring by attending sporting events, pitching in, and filling in during classes.
The entire Mercy community will keep the Scalzi family in our never-ending thoughts and prayers for comfort and fortitude at this trying time.
