Bill Phillips Obituary, Death- On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at the age of 88, Billy Ray Phillips returned home to be with the Lord while he was accompanied by his family.

Billy Phillips was born in Memphis, Tennessee on April 19, 1932. His parents, William Sumpter Phillips and Spencer King Phillips, both passed away before Billy was born. He was a member of the graduating class of Southside High School in 1950 and remained in close contact with many of his classmates and friends throughout the entirety of his life.

The United States Navy was an honorable place for Billy to serve his country. His whole professional life was dedicated to the field of commercial and industrial electricity, with the majority of those years spent employed by Shelby Electric Company.

Bill cherished the time he was able to spend with his loved ones and friends. He was a voracious reader and had a passion for history. He attended the Christ United Methodist Church regularly throughout his life. He was predeceased by his wife, Faye Ann Phillips; his daughter, Sherry Lynn Sere; his parents, William and Spencer Phillips; his brother, Jimmy Phillips; and his sister, Marjorie Acree.

He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Lynn Sere; his parents; his brother, Jimmy Phillips; and his sister, Marjorie Acree. There are three members of the Phillips family who have survived: children Johnny (Pam) Phillips and Scott Phillips (Nia), as well as a sister named Carolyn (Tommy) Poff. In addition, he has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren that he leaves behind.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on the day of the funeral, which is Saturday, September 26, 2020, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the Brantley Funeral Home located at 6875 Cockrum St., Olive Branch, Mississippi 38654. The subsequent ceremony will take place in Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch, Mississippi.
