David Hairston Obituary Death, David Hairston, who passed away in 2018, was a much loved friend, an essential member of the Appalachian Voices Board of Directors, an advocate for the town of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, where he grew up, and a warrior for environmental justice everywhere else. He was an important member of the Appalachian Voices Board of Directors.
He served on the Board of Directors for Appalachian Voices for several years. David Hairston lost his courageous fight against cancer on April 2, 2019, and passed away the next day. In the year 2014, David Hairston lost his valiant battle against cancer after a protracted and difficult course of treatment. After hearing the news of his departure, we are all in total and absolute amazement, and we are going to miss him very, very much. We are going to miss him very, very much.
We are going to suffer a profound loss as a result of his departure. We are all going to miss him very, very much, and it’s going to be terrible. His legacy will be the love that he had for the people in his town, and that legacy will continue on in Walnut Cove as well as in all of us who were impacted by his friendship and the work that he accomplished.
Walnut Cove will always be a place where his affection for the people in his town will be remembered.
