Delina was born December 30, 1942, in Webster City, Iowa. Her parents were George and Violet (Bentley) Garth. After graduating from Sheffield High School, she worked at a Webster City telephone company. On September 27, 1964, Delina and Lyle Etnier married at Webster City Church of Christ. Delina and Lyle lived on a Sheffield farm initially. The property where Delina grew up became their permanent dwelling. Delina worked hard and enjoyed life on the farm with her husband and six children. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and supper), looking to their chickens, helping with farming, and working in her huge garden, which allowed her to preserve a lot of food.
Everyone who knew Delina could feel her kindness and effervescent enthusiasm in her grin. She was mainly notable for her kindness and selflessness. Delina never made you feel like an inconvenience, and you rarely saw her angry, unhappy, or depressed. She would search for the positive and go forward. Few people could rise to the occasion and confront problems with a smile like her. Delina was famous for her fried chicken and noodle corn casserole during family gatherings. She always looked forward to family gatherings at her place with all her loved ones.
Gatherings are incomplete without card games like Chase the Ace, Hand and Foot, Garbage, and others that may be played with the whole family. Delina is survived by her husband Lyle of Rockwell, her daughters Tammy (Mike) Christianson of Alexandria, Minnesota, Vicki (Jim) Tuttle of Sheffield, Penny (Lance) Teisinger of Dunkerton, Marilyn (Shane) Krukow of Iowa Falls, and Deb (Lonnie) Barkema of Sheffield, her son Lon (Rachael) Etnier of Sheffield, her brother Larry Garth of Spirit Lake, 14 grandchildren, and Her parents and brother Gaylord Garth died before her.
