Henry Chabot Obituary, Death – The Atwood Hose Fire Company expresses their deepest condolences as they inform everyone of the demise of Life Member Henry E. Chabot. Henry E. Chabot, who was 94 years old and from Wauregan, Connecticut, passed away at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, Connecticut, on August 8, 2023. He was the son of the late Ely Chabot and Yvonne (Poirier) Chabot and was born on February 10, 1929 in Wauregan, Connecticut.
He spent his childhood on the Elm Crest Farm in Wauregan, Illinois. Henry was a hydraulic tech in the United States Air Force for 23 years, during which time he served in Germany, the United States, and Thailand. He met and married his first wife, Maria Rest, in Germany; sadly, she passed away in the year 1995. Henry had a passion for aviation, and after serving in the Air Force for twenty years, he retired and began a second career as a flight instructor and charter pilot at Windham Airport.
In 2002, he tied the knot with Deborah Woodward Bastien, and she is the one who outlived him. It was a tradition for him to spend the winter in Belleview, Florida, a place he loved very much. He was a member of the Atwood Hose Fire Co. and the VFW for his entire life. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Danielson Elks, the American Legion, and the Loyal order of Moose. Henry was an avid hunter, particularly when he was in Germany.
He was both a vocalist and a passionate golfer. On Sunday, August 13, 2023, calling hours will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home, which is located at 33 Reynolds Street in Danielson, Connecticut. On Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:00 AM, there will be a Graveside Service held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wauregan, Connecticut.
