John Scott Obituary, Death – Sincere condolences are sent to the family, friends, and colleagues of John Scott, who served as a state senator in South Carolina, following his loss. Just a few moments ago, we were informed that he had passed away at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Following his graduation from South Carolina State University in 1990, Scott made his initial bid for a seat in the South Carolina State House by running for election in that year.
Before campaigning for election to the South Carolina State Senate, he had already completed nine terms as the incumbent of that seat. He leaves behind a long record of service as a passionate advocate for increased access to health care and investments in public education. He also leaves behind an extensive record of service. In addition, he left behind a lengthy legacy of service to the public. I pray that he discovers the peace and enlightenment that will last forever.
The staff in our newsroom is being flooded with expressions of condolence, including the following examples: More than half a century ago, when both of our fathers passed away, the Scott and Lourie families became great friends. This friendship has continued to this day. In this trying time, Joan and the rest of the Scott family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am thinking and praying for all of you. He never wavered in his support for the causes that were important to him, and he provided the greatest level of honorable service to both his community and his state.
Former senator Joel Lourie Peggy and I would like to express our deepest condolences to Senator John Scott’s family and friends on the untimely passing of Senator John Scott. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. His work in the General Assembly, which he has done for more than 30 years, has been very beneficial to Richland County as well as the rest of the state of South Carolina as a whole. Everyone will grieve his passing in their own unique ways. I pray that God will continue to watch for him and all who care about him.
