Johnny Angel Obituary, Death – The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has officially identified the individual involved in the recent fatal encounter with Chino police on September 6th. The deceased is Johnny J. Angel, a 53-year-old resident who hailed from Alta Loma, commonly referred to as Rancho Cucamonga.
The tragic incident unfolded around 10 a.m. when Chino police officers attempted to pull over Angel’s 1996 blue BMW Z3 convertible due to a seat belt violation. However, Angel chose not to comply with the officers’ request and, in a dangerous turn of events, intentionally caused a collision with a motorcycle officer by abruptly slamming on his car’s brakes, as disclosed by Chino Police Lt. Aaron Kelliher on September 11th.
Following the collision, Angel fled the scene, racing along El Prado Road. Subsequently, Chino detectives joined forces with the Fontana Police Department to track Angel’s whereabouts, leading them to a residence in Rialto. The nature of Angel’s connection to this particular address remained under investigation as of Monday, according to Kelliher.
At approximately 5:30 p.m. on the same day, the Chino SWAT team executed a search warrant at the Rialto location. During the operation, Angel made an attempt to escape and was confronted by officers. A grave escalation occurred when Angel discharged a handgun, prompting two officers to return fire in self-defense. Tragically, Angel sustained fatal injuries on the scene, succumbing to the consequences of the exchange. Thankfully, none of the officers involved were harmed in the shootout.
