Rebecca Stender Obituary Death – On Friday, July 28, 2023, Rebecca “Becky” Stender, 69, of Davenport passed away at Silvercrest Garner Senior Living. Memorial services will be place at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport on July 31, 2023, at 5 o’clock. Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Becky Stender’s honor may be donated to the YMCA of the Iowa Mississippi Valley.
Alberta (Garcia) and Michael Rodriguez welcomed Becky into the world on June 2, 1954 in Davenport. She graduated in 1972 from West High School, where she was an active cheerleading squad member.
Jim Schmidt and Becky Schmidt were married in 1974, and together they had four kids. She married Randy Stender in 1994, and the two were blessed with a kid. Randy and Becky were partners for more than 25 years. He passed away in 2019 before she did. Becky always loved her family, despite losing her rock.
For many years, she served as the “boss” over her ten siblings and their offspring; family outings were never the same without her in command. Although Becky, a custodian for the Davenport Schools for more than 25 years, retired in 2016, she and Randy continued to work all the time. They put in countless hours working “side jobs” for almost all of their family members and several people in our neighborhood.
She had belonged to both Holy Family and St. Anthony Catholic Churches. She took part in the Cornbelt Running Club and ran the Bix with her family since she loved the running community. Becky had a great day exercising at the YMCA. She is survived by her mother Alberta Rodriguez, siblings Monica Aguirre, Martha (Gary) Adams, Linda (Tony) Cawiezell, Ray Rodriguez, Martin Rodriguez, Renee (Phil) Seline, and Angela Rodriguez-Finch, as well as her children Matthew (Kari Hanson) Schmidt, Tawny (Nate) Stoffregen, Trena (Mike) Coffey, Tammy Schmidt, and Brady (Annie) Stender.
Becky was predeceased by her father, her husband, her sister Laura Holst, and brothers Michael and Anthony Rodriguez. The personnel at Silvercrest Garner Senior Living and St. Croix Hospice deserve appreciation from the family for the tender care you gave to our mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
