Robert Daniel Obituary Death – Dillwyn, VA Robert Daniel “Danny” Farrar, Jr., 81, of Dillwyn, Virginia, died peacefully on September 10, 2023. He was born to Robert and Katherine Farrar in Coal City, West Virginia, on November 12, 1941, and is now with them in eternal rest. Danny’s son, Robert Daniel Farrar III of Frederick, Maryland, and granddaughters, Willow and River, survive him.
His sister Ramona Farrar Hatcher of Columbia, South Carolina, his siblings Karen and Tim Farrar of Dillwyn, Virginia, and his younger brother Larry Farrar predeceased him. Danny’s ex-wife Dorothy Farrar and her Virginia children Brittany Hopkins and Pearl Schaffer survive him. Missy Fucina, a dedicated caregiver, and the doctors and nurses at Centra Southside Community Hospital in Farmville, Lynchburg Hospital, and Hospice House in Blackstone were extremely nice to him in his final days.
He left nieces, nephews, and many friends who will always remember him. Danny attended Coal City Stoco High. He heroically served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, demonstrating his patriotism. Danny traveled the US as a welder after the military. Danny found peace on the Dillwyn family property in his senior years. His simple requirements and giving personality made him constantly willing to serve others.
Love for his faith and commitment to Jesus filled his heart. Sunset Memorial Park in Beckley, West Virginia will have a graveside service for Danny on Friday, September 15. Beckley’s Rose & Quesenberry Funeral Home will handle arrangements. The family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Danny’s longtime charity, in lieu of flowers. As we say goodbye to Danny, may we take comfort in knowing that he is now in the Lord’s arms, free from pain and suffering and surrounded by eternal love and peace.
