Shane Nelson Obituary, Death- At the age of 52, Shane Nelson passed away at the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Buffalo, New York, on Monday, August 7, 2023. Shane was born on
January 10th, 1971 in the city of Syracuse, which is located in the state of New York. He was the surviving son of Reginald Nelson Jr. and the late Betty Nelson (Goldthwait), who also predeceased him. After graduating from East Syracuse-Minoa High School in 1989, he started his career shortly thereafter with United Parcel Service (UPS).
where he worked as a loyal and respected employee for more than three decades. He was a graduate of that school. Everyone who was getting something delivered was overjoyed to meet Shane, much more so than they were to get their gift. Joseph Tocci, Shane’s father-in-law, passed away before him, following in the footsteps of both of Shane’s parents.
Shane is survived by his devoted wife Michele (Tocci), his stepson Dallas Adams, his brother Scott Nelson, his sister Tina Barnell (Nelson), his mother-in-law Marianne Tocci, his sister-in-law Jessica Purvis (Tocci), his brothers-in-law Lance Purvis, Jeffrey Tocci, and Jeff Barnell, as well as seven nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Shane passed away on January 15, 2019.
Shane was a dedicated friend, brother, uncle, son, and friend in addition to being a loving husband and parent. He looked forward to seeing the people he cared about most, as well as his treasured chocolate lab puppy, River, whenever he could. Shane was a devoted supporter of the Buffalo Bills, Syracuse University basketball, and KISS.
and he attended as many of their games and concerts as he could. He had a passion for music and made sure there was always something uplifting playing in the background. Because he played so much golf, he counts getting a hole-in-one as one of his greatest accomplishments. Shane was a genuine embodiment of all that is wonderful, uplifting, and joyful in the human spirit.
He was an infectious source of happiness and brightened every space he entered. Those who knew and cared for him will always carry a piece of his infectious grin and laugh with them. For their tenacity, support, and loving care, the family would like to express their profound gratitude to the caring staff at Roswell Park, which includes both the medical professionals and the nursing staff.
The family will have visitors on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. This will be immediately followed by a funeral service honoring Shane’s life, which will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home, which is located at 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.), N. Syracuse, New York 13212.
