Shannon Martin Obituary, Spartanburg SC, Professor of Psychology Has Passed Away

Shannon Martin Obituary, Death – The unexpected passing of Dr. Shannon Martin, Associate Professor of Psychology at Converse, is a source of tremendous sorrow for the company, and it is with this feeling that we pass along the news.

When Dr. Martin joined the Converse Psychology faculty in the fall of 2016, he quickly became a favorite among students and was recognized as an outstanding research scholar. In addition, he was a clinical psychologist. During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Martin’s family, including her husband Stuart, as well as her many friends and colleagues.

“May Dr. Martin’s deep love for her students, her passion for rich inquiry through clinical-based research, and her care for our campus community continue to inspire us all as we mourn and grieve this sad loss,” stated Boone J. Hopkins, president of Converse University. “May her deep love for her students continue to inspire us as we mourn and grieve this sad loss.”

This information has left us in a state of dismay. She taught my daughter when she was in college. My kid held a lot of respect for Dr. Martin as a teacher and a guide. We owe her a great debt of gratitude for the education she bestowed upon her pupils. We are thinking about her and their family at this time.
I am absolutely shattered inside! Professor Martin was a wonderful person, and he was also an excellent clinician.

I picked up a lot of new information from her not only in the academic realm but also in regard to life and other people. I will always be grateful to her for the information that she passed on to her students, all of whom she clearly cherished and cared for. “May Dr. Martin’s deep love for her students, her passion for rich inquiry through clinical-based research, and her care for our campus community continue to inspire us all as we mourn and grieve this sad loss,”

Bethany Garr, who is the Director of Counseling and Wellness, will also be present to offer support and guidance.
