Stephen Cargill Obituary, Death – Stephen Warren Cargill, who was 74 years old at the time of his death on August 1st, 2023, passed away. In addition to the pulmonary fibrosis that he has already been diagnosed with, he was only recently given the diagnosis of lymphoma. At the time, he was undergoing treatment for cancer; nevertheless, the chemotherapy ended up being too taxing on his body.
As a result, he was transferred to hospice care, and he passed away not long after that. Stephen, better known by his nickname Steve, was an athlete who took great pleasure in going to the gym, playing baseball, and, later in life, slow pitch softball. He took up the sport of slow pitch softball as an adult. The Dallas Times Herald bestowed upon him the moniker “Big Bopper” in the 1980s after he triumphed in a home run hitting competition and was crowned “Home Run Champion.”
He worked long hours as a fork lift driver for Safeway, Eckerd’s, and CVS; nevertheless, in his leisure time, he taught my brother and I in baseball and instilled in us a passion for the game. Steve was a talented singer and guitarist in his leisure time, in addition to his enthusiasm for the world of athletics. When Brian and I were younger, Daddy would frequently put up a performance for us by singing and playing the guitar. This occurred quite frequently.
In addition to that, he instilled a passion for God in us from a very early age; we are going to miss him very much. Instead of sending flowers, we would appreciate it if you would consider making a donation to the Special Olympics in Steve’s name. In the following days, my brother Brian and I will be hosting a memorial ceremony for our father, and we will cherish every memory we have of him. The service will be attended by our closest friends and members of our extended family. a
