Wesley Garris Obituary Death – In a statement that was issued on August 14, 2023, the Town of Windsor addressed the passing of Wesley F. Garris, who had previously served as Mayor. Wesley F. Garris has died away, and the news of his passing has left us in indescribable mourning. When it came to his work for the town of Windsor, where he served for decades as both the Mayor and a member of the Town Council, Wesley was completely selfless in his devotion to the community.
His commitment to the neighborhood was unwavering.
Wesley served on the Town Council three separate times: first, between the years 1967 and 1984; then, between the years 1988 and 1996; and, most recently, between the years 2004 and 2013. He was elected to the office of mayor in 1996, and he continued to serve in that capacity until 2002. He won the election for that position.
During the forty years that Wesley served as an elected politician in Windsor, he was a key figure in guiding the municipality through a number of significant transitions. During that time, Wesley served as mayor of Windsor. These included the conversion of the fire station into the municipal center and the annexation of property in 2001, which more than quadrupled the size of the town. Together, these developments more than doubled the size of the town. We are saddened by the loss of a beautiful person who was a friend as well as someone who served the community, and we extend our sympathies and prayers to the members of his family.
